Disastrous slime!

On the 19th October, we done a slime experiment. I can tell you that it didn't turn out as good as we expected because the borax substitute had spoilt it at the end. Also Mrs Playle accidentally poured away the borax solution. Another thing was that Mrs Playle again accidentally poured away our cornflour mixture down the drain! But at least we all had fun!

Slime and Interesting Inks

Yesterday we made slime but it came to a bit of a disaster! So Miss Wylde put cornflour into everyone's jar except for mine, because my slime worked. It was a bit runny but you could pour it into your hand and play with it. By this morning it had turned quite hard.

When we investigated inks, we noticed that the ink from one of the pens didn't spread so we could catch the kidnapper.

Having fun with slime.

In Year 5 we had so much fun with the slime.

What we did first is bring in as many jars as we could. Then we had to measure spoons of glue and water and choose a drop of food colour. We put the lid on and shook it for a minute as hard as we could. Then we had to put in some cleaning product (borax) and shook it again, with the lid on. We waited for it to dissolve. It didn't turn out that good but we still had good fun.

Warren taster day

Year 5 enjoyed a brilliant day at The Warren today.

5W had a marvellous music lesson.
Zivile and Loulou won prizes for their singing.
We hope to be able to share it on-line soon!
We had a fantastic PE lesson on the astroturf court.
The day was full of fun as well as learning and has given us a great insight into what secondary school is like. We'd like to thank the Head and Deputy for making us welcome, the prefects for looking after us and Mr Uddin for organising everything so perfectly.

5W's sunny day in London

Year 5 enjoyed the sunshine during their fabulous trip to London to visit Tate Modern.

They enjoyed opportunities to sketch both inside and outside the gallery.

It's free to visit so why not go during the Easter holidays?

Many thanks to all the parents who gave up their time to accompany us and to help make it such a successful trip.

5W World Book Day winners

Congratulations to Kai and Amy. They received most votes for their costumes and reasons for choosing their characters. Here are a few words from the winners.

"My character is a Japanese girl who moves to America and has to put up with people making fun of how she dresses and all the different cliques. People are mean to her but she deals with it easily! She basically gets chewed up and spat out again and she deals with it. I really like her for that so that's why I dressed up as her."

"I like my character because he always gets in trouble and he has two friends called Pie Face and Curly that remind me of my friends Joe and Frankie. They help me when we are in trouble and I help them try to get out of trouble. My character is called Dennis the Menace."

Smoothie bike comes to 5W

5W were thrilled when Dr Bike made a special return visit to Henry Green, as we had missed our turn. It was fascinating to watch as our classmates turned fruit into a delicious drink through pedalling furiously!

If you want to try the recipe at home, add a banana, some chopped mango, juicy pineapple and a handful of frozen raspberries to a blender and top up with juice. Blend until smooth and serve straight away. Delicious!
