Lots of fun with an egg-shaped ball.

Year 5 were treated to a surprise lesson from 2 rugby players at the end of half term. After a fun yet challenging warm-up, Steve and Andy taught a number of skills, such as throwing and catching and passing back. Everyone then played a really fun game , where the wolves tried to grab the tags from their prey. 
Many of the children are looking forward to continuing to developing their skills by joining Tag Rugby Club.

Slimey Wednesday!

On Wednesday we planned an investigation on making slime. It was a bit of a disaster! The reason it didn't work was because Miss Wylde accidentally bought the wrong powder to make it gooey. Instead Miss Wylde got cornflour and water which was fun because when you punch it, it feels like a solid. But if you slowly put your finger in it goes fast like in liquid. It was a brilliant lesson.

I see ink!

In Year 5 we discovered about ink. What we liked about discovering the ink was that it is exciting and messy! We learnt that whiteboard pen ink didn't spread out when you put water on it but the other pens inks did. we put one or two drops of water on each filter paper of ink to make freaky patterns.

Yo-yo raisins

On Tuesday we did an experiment with raisins. We put some raisins in some fizzy water and they went right down to the bottom. We left them for a little while and then the bubbles made the raisins float to the top. The bubbles were gas.
We acted it out and wrote a play about the yo-yo raisins. It was fun and exciting.

Inks

Two days ago we did a ink test to see what happened to the ink when we put water on it . The ink from the handwriting pen went blue. The ink from the felt tip went all over the paper.

If kidnappers write a letter we can find out who it is by putting a bit of ink from their pen on filter paper and putting a drop of water on it.

Interesting Inks

We got filter paper and we folded it up into four and cut it into four. Then we put different inks on. We got syringes and we squirted one drop of water on. The ink spread and different colours came out. Each pen was different. Then we wrote secret messages and worked out which pen it was. The kidnapper wrote in whiteboard pen.
