Year 5 enjoyed a wonderful trip to Valence House Museum on Thursday. There were three activities in the morning : a tour with one of the museum guides, focusing on Dagenham as a village; a trail, where we searched the galleries for answers to the questions we were given; and a fascinating talk from Mr Watkins. After lunch, we enjoyed sketching in the grounds of the house and in the herb garden. We finished the day with a game of rounders on the field. It was a lot of fun and we found out so much about the history of our area.
"I loved listening on the phone in the trail. I was amazed at how big the whalebone is too." Debrah
"This is great! I want to come back with my nan and grandad - they'll love it!" Jay
"I love the way the children are motivated and want to return to this fantastic local museum." Mrs Lawrence.
"This museum is really cool!" Sumayah
"It was exciting and enjoyable and I learnt lots!" Victoria
"The children were very well-behaved and enthusiastic to be learning about their town." Mrs Playle
"I liked the trail - there was lots to do, lots to look at and listen to." Zovee.
If you want to visit Valence House Museum, pop along any day from Monday to Saturday. It's not only fantastic, it's free!
