Enjoy the snow but have some fun learning too!

Hello to everyone in Year 5!

We hope that you have all had some fun in the snow this weekend and that you're not too disappointed that school is closed on Monday. There's still plenty of snow outside to make a snowman, snowwoman, snowdog, igloo, etc or to have a snowball fight and we'd love to see pictures of you all having a good time. Don't forget to bring them in as soon as we're back.

We would also like you to avoid brain freeze by doing a little bit of work. You all have your log in details for Purple Mash and know how to use it. There are lots of fun activities to choose from. We would like everyone to have a go at a couple of maths games. Choose something that will help you achieve your individual targets, for example, number bonds or multiplication facts.

There are some great ideas in the 2publish section, such as writing a newspaper report on a great template - have a look, as it's really cool. When you have completed the project of your choice you can save it on-line. That way, we'll be able to have a look at what you've been doing.

Hopefully, you all have something good to read, whether it's a story book, a non-fiction text, a comic, etc. Write a review to share with your class when we're back at school. Include as much information as you can along with your opinion. Take care with your presentation too.

Don't forget to comment on the blog too - it's a great way of keeping in touch and sharing news.

We hope to see you soon but in the meantime, enjoy the snow!

5W's snowy school day

My snowy day by Megan Galbraith

Walking in the snow I hear crunchy sounds under my feet,

I feel freezing snow falling on my cold head,

I see a blizzard far ahead,

My hands going numb, my feet all wet,

Snow very deep,

Everyone happy throwing snowballs.

My friends playing in the snow.

My friends were playing in the snow. Luckily, none of it was yellow. We had a snowball fight before school and it was so wicked and cool! We enjoyed watching the snowflakes fall because they remind me of little jewels.

My fingers felt numb, I would rather try the world's hardest math sum. It was cosy and warm inside and yet we were having a winter storm. My garden looked like a winter wonderland!

Thick white snow falling on to the ground.
All the kids who like it come out to play.
It forms so quickly from falling into a blizzard.
Some kids go out to play and get frozen to death.
Before you go out the front door you can always hear your mum saying
" Dress up warm and nicely."
And then you go out to play
